Le patriarcat de Moscou espère que les clés de la cathédrale Saint Nicolas lui seront remises sous peu

Le patriarcat de Moscou exprime l’espoir que la situation autour de la cathédrale Saint Nicolas à Nice sera bientôt régularisée.

Le métropolite de Volokolamsk Hilarion, président du DREE, a, au cours d’une conférence de presse, répondu a plusieurs questions d’Interfax-Religion :« Cette situation doit trouver une réponse dans le cadre des pourparlers entre les deux parties. Il est indispensable de faire preuve au cours de ces négociations d’une certaine souplesse. L’essentiel est que la cathédrale qui a été restituée à son propriétaire légitime, la Fédération de Russie. La tradition orthodoxe doit y être respectée, l’entrée dans la cathédrale doit cesser d’être payante. Espérons que des réponses seront bientôt trouvées ».

Il a été récemment annoncé que la remise des clés de la cathédrale au prêtre envoyé à Nice par le patriarcat de Moscou pour assumer la gestion du lieu traîne en longueur.
La justice française a confirmé que la Russie est le propriétaire légitime de la cathédrale l’ACOR-Nice ayant perdu le procès. La Fédération de Russie a de son coté décidé de transmettre la cathédrale au patriarcat de Moscou.
L’ACOR relève de l’exarchat du patriarcat de Constantinople. Il existe donc en Europe occidentale deux structures ecclésiales parallèles : une partie des paroisses sont dans l’obédience de Constantinople, une autre partie appartient à la juridiction du patriarcat de Moscou, diocèse de Chersonèse.
Mgr Gabriel, Archevêché des Églises Orthodoxes Russes en Europe Occidentale , a laissé entendre dans un entretien qui a eu lieu fin août avec Mgr Nestor, évêque de Chersonèse, que la question de la remise des clés de la cathédrale doit trouver une solution dans le cadre de pourparlers directs entre le patriarcat de Moscou et l’ACOR.
Mgr Gabriel s’est donc soustrait à la nécessité pour lui de résoudre la situation autour de la cathédrale Saint Nicolas.

Russian Orthodox Church hopes to get keys to Nice cathedral soon

Moscow, September 9, Interfax - The Moscow Patriarchate has expressed hopes for the prompt settlement of the situation with St. Nicholas Cathedral in Nice, France.

"This situation [the previous owners' lack of readiness to hand the keys to the cathedral over to the Russian Orthodox Church] should be resolved through negotiation between the two parties, and I think certain flexibility should be demonstrated in these talks," Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, the head of the Synodal Department for External Church Relations, told a press conference in Moscow on Friday.
Metropolitan Hilarion said the main thing is that the church, which has now been returned to its legal owner [Russia], "should function in accordance with the Orthodox traditions, for example, people should not have to pay to get into the church."
"I think these issues should be resolved through negotiation, and I hope this issue will be resolved in the nearest future," Metropolitan Hilarion said.
According to earlier reports, there has been a delay with the supply of the keys to the St. Nichols Cathedral to a priest from the Moscow Patriarchate, who arrived in Nice to begin administration of the cathedral, which has recently been handed over to the Russian Orthodox Church.
According to earlier reports, a French court on May 19 confirmed Russia's right of property to the cathedral. The Russian Orthodox association of Nice (ACOR), which had conducted litigation with Russia, lost the suit. The Russian state, in turn, decided to hand the church over to the Moscow Patriarchate.

ACOR reports to the Exarchate of Russian Parishes in Western Europe, which is part of the Constantinople Patriarchate. There are two parallel church organizations in Western Europe: the Constantinople Patriarchate and the Moscow Patriarchate, which is represented by the Corsun Diocese.

Despite the court ruling, Archbishop Gabriel, the head of the Exarchate of Russian Parishes, made it clear in a meeting with Bishop Nestor of Corsun in late August that issues relating to the transfer of the keys to the Nice cathedral should be resolved by the Moscow Patriarchate directly with ACOR, i.e., Archbishop Gabriel in effect disassociated himself from the issue.
